Vocal Music

Be part of the hottest vocal ensemble around! Vocal Music is an opportunity to hone your pitch, harmony, and vocalization along with performance techniques. Led by professional artists, you will explore your vocal instrument, and enhance your onstage skills both as an individual and as a member of the JCC MaccabiArtsFest® ensemble. Under the guidance of your Artist in Residence, you will be challenged to learn a variety of songs for the Final ArtsFest Showcase for your peers – the grand finale of JCC Maccabi ArtsFest.

Introducing our 2019 Vocal AIR – Lindsey Tycholiz-McKiddy







Lindsey has performed in and worked with many productions around the country. Some of her favorite roles include Sarah Brown in Guys & Dolls, Rapunzel in Into the Woods, Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Erma in Anything Goes. She has also performed at Walt Disney World, the Orlando Opera Company, Michigan Opera Theater, and Universal Studios as Marilyn Monroe. She currently choreographs for the PAIJ Players at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts.

To top it all off Lindsey works as an assistant choreographer for the Miss Universe Organization and was crowned Miss Michigan USA 2009. She also received her of Bachelors of Music from Oakland University in Music Education and Theater and has taught music and choir around the Metro Detroit area. She is currently working on her MM in Voice Pedagogy and is thrilled to be a part of the Maccabi Artsfest this year!

Audition Requirements – Vocal 2019

What are we looking for?

  • A passion and enjoyment for approaching and performing music
  • A curiosity about various styles and a desire to experience new music
  • Risk-takers who are ready to work on vocal projection and performance skills
  • People who enjoy being part of a team or ensemble
  • Have the ability to hold pitch while singing harmony with others
  • Experience in at least two of the following:
    • Solo performance
    • Ensemble or choir performance Have the ability to hold pitch while singing harmony with others

In addition to answering the questions below, you must submit a video sample of your work. Please record a video of yourself singing a song of your choice a cappella or with accompaniment, either from a pianist or a karaoke tape or CD.

Once you have recorded the video, please upload it to a site such as YouTube or Vimeo and copy and paste the link into your audition form.
